Theme of policing and mental health

TS_front_cover__foreward_Issue_no_7Home Secretary Theresa May MP's endorsement of Black Mental Health UK's first print edition of The Solution Magazine, marks a breakthrough in the way the issues that we have been campaigning on for a number of years have been taken up by senior politicians.

Focusing on the theme of 'Policing, Mental Health & black Briton' this edition was launched at the recent joint high level Home Office and BMH UK summit on this issue.

Minister for Mental Health Norman Lamb MPs continuing support of this work in his message on mental health and black Briton in this edition also confirms that this issue can no longer be sidelined.

Our cover feature of Dr Joanna Bennett, key progenitor of the David 'Rocky' Bennett inquiry report shows that 10 years after she started campaigning, many key issue on the treatment of people from the community detained in mental health hospitals still need to be addressed.

The_Problem_with_restraint_-_Dr_Leslie_Thomas_QC_-_BMH_UK_TS_issue_7In our law section Dr Leslie Thomas QC sets out the 'problems with restraint', we also have an exclusive feature on Taser, mental health and black Londoner's.

Also the Black Cultural Archives and Narrative Eye sheds light on the historic contributions of the Diaspora.
